Hard-Boiled Wonderland and the End of the World

Finished reading "Hard-Boiled Wonderland and the End of the World" by Haruki Murakami (in Russian translation) for the second time. It's one of my favorites, I guess, though I like all of his books - I've read almost all of them, including short stories. There's just something about them, mystery and reality, it's bizarre and true at the same time. There's adventures and unexplained, and wise bits and relations, and overall mood in his stories touches me, I relate to his characters and it feels familiar, even if it has never happened to me, it still gets me. Many people read his books just because he became popular and got into mainstream, but that's not the reason I love him, never was. I've read "Wild sheep chase" about five years ago, and it instantly caught me, and I still feel this way, the way I felt that rainy August for the first time. And now, when the end of summer comes, I read his books again. Never get tired of them.

  1. I've read some Murakami. My favorite so far is Kafka on the Shore, though it doesn't seem to have been well-received by his fans. I found your blog by searching for others who like Fever Ray: I like it here a lot: very naturalistic and direct and real.
